Aevornix Snip privacy notice
What the Aevornix Snip desktop application keeps, where it keeps it, and what leaves your computer. Aevornix Snip captures, annotates and records your screen on your own computer. It has no account, no server, no telemetry, no analytics and no advertising, and it does not use the internet.
What we collect
Nothing through the application. Aevornix Snip sends nothing to us: your captures, recordings, recognised text and settings stay on your computer. We do not sell or share personal information, because the application gives us none.
What the application holds
Everything below is kept on your computer.
- Saved captures and recordings
- Screenshots you save go to Pictures\Snips and recordings to Videos\Snips, or to a folder you choose.
- History
- Captures from the last 24 hours by default, with a thumbnail, your annotations, any recognised text, the display and the name of the application captured, held in a local SQLite database in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Aevornix\Snip. Window titles are kept only if you turn that setting on. Pinned captures stay until you remove them. Private captures never enter history.
- Recognised text
- Text is read from a capture by the Windows OCR engine on your computer and kept with that capture in history.
- Settings and shortcuts
- Your preferences and keyboard shortcuts, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Aevornix\Snip.
- Diagnostic logs
- Logs kept on your computer to help diagnose faults. They record event names, sizes, durations and error codes, and never the content of a capture or its text.
- Handoff copies
- A capture you send to another Aevornix application is copied to that application's folder in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Aevornix\Handoff.
What leaves your computer
Aevornix Snip makes no network connection and has no telemetry. Two Windows features can still move a capture if you have turned them on. When Pictures or Videos is backed up to OneDrive, Windows uploads the captures and recordings saved there. A capture copied to the clipboard can be kept in Windows clipboard history, and synced to your other devices if clipboard sync is on. Otherwise a capture leaves your computer only when you share or send it yourself.
Updates
The application contains no update client and does not check for updates itself.
Removing your data
Clear history from within Aevornix Snip, or delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Aevornix\Snip to remove history, settings and logs. Saved captures and recordings remain in Pictures\Snips and Videos\Snips, and handoff copies in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Aevornix\Handoff, until you delete them.
Children
Aevornix Snip is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Your rights and who to ask
Aevornix is an operating division of Oxford Private Studios Ltd, the publisher of Aevornix Snip.
